Paint the Town Purple with Project Horizon!

Show your support to survivors and help eradicate domestic violence in Rockbridge County by painting the town in purple.

Throughout the month of October we invite you to join Project Horizon in painting the town purple! Purple is a symbol for peace, courage, survival, honor, and dedication to ending violence.

Project Horizon is a recognized leader in efforts locally and statewide to address the pervasive problem of domestic and sexual violence. We provide confidential services to survivors of intimate partner violence as well as prevention, education, and outreach programs.

Domestic Violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the US. It is more common than automobile accidents, muggings, and cancer deaths combined.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Join us during the month of October to paint the town purple to show support.

Here are some ways you could participate: Wear a purple outfit, paint your nails purple, place a purple flag, ribbon, or flowers like Asters outside! As a business, create a window display or share our Domestic Violence Awareness poster.

Share a picture with us of friends or co-workers wearing purple, or turn your business displays purple. We invite you to tag Project Horizon, message us on social media, or email.

We would love to highlight all the efforts being made in Rockbridge County to eradicate violence.

When we show our support by displaying purple we spread awareness! By spreading awareness we help victims know that they are not alone and that survivors can speak up, receive healing that they need, and advocate for change. Thank you for assisting us in reaching some of the most vulnerable in our community and ending the violence that affects so many.

Project Horizon’s crisis hotline is open 24 hours a day at 540-463-2594.

All services are free and confidential.
