Shelter
LISA'S HOUSE
Lisa's House is our emergency shelter for adult victims of domestic, sexual violence or stalking in the Rockbridge area and their children. The staff connect individual clients with local community resources and can aid in arranging childcare, transportation, as well as seeking employment and permanent housing. Support, advocacy, and counseling services are also available for adults and children in the shelter.
THERAPY AND SUPPORT
Free and confidential counseling services are available for you, whether the abuse is current or occurred in the past. Additionally, counseling is offered to family members or friends of those who have experienced domestic violence or sexual abuse. We offer traditional “talk” therapy, as well as spiritual counseling, art, and music.

ADVOCACY FOR CHILDREN
In our Children’s Center, we offer specialized services for child abuse victims. Additionally, counseling is offered to victims and their non-offending parent or caregiver. Project Horizon also hosts a satellite location for the Valley Child Advocacy Center. This allows us to provide a neutral space for child abuse victims to speak with trained forensic interviewers. Interviews are viewed by a multidisciplinary team of allied professionals who can collaborate on the case without requiring the child to tell their story to each team member individually.
SUPPORT NAVIGATING THE LEGAL SYSTEM
The court advocacy program at Project Horizon provides legal support to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Advocates may accompany victims to court dates and appointments. Our legal advocates can help you throughout the entire court process.

SUPPORT NAVIGATING THE LEGAL SYSTEM
Domestic violence calls can be considered one of the most dangerous situations for both victims and law enforcement officers. The Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) is a partnership between Project Horizon and our local law enforcement agencies aimed at identifying domestic violence victims at high risk of being killed or seriously injured by their partner.
Officers utilize LAP as a screening tool with victims to determine their level of risk and immediately offer to link them to the PH hotline. Hotline workers provide support, shelter, educations about domestic violence, safety planning and follow-up counseling.
