Project Horizon provides a 32 hour training for those interested in becoming a volunteer. Topics are covered such as domestic violence, sexual assault, crisis intervention, protective orders, victims with disabilities, child abuse, victims in the LGBTQ community, and more. This training will provide the necessary information for volunteers to feel educated and equipped to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
To schedule an interview, please call our Volunteer Coordinator at 463-7861.
For those who are unable to participate in the training, but rather would be interested in one time group projects, there are several opportunities to become involved. Groups in the past have volunteered to clean the shelter, plant flowers, clean up the playground, do yard work, etc. Our most recent service project involved over 30 members of the Timber Framers Guild, with the help of over 30 VMI cadets, in the construction of Project Horizon’s new Therapeutic Art Center.
